Buchiawase Daiko
Traditional Piece
Buchiawase Daiko is a fisherman’s song from the Kanagawa prefecture of Japan, where competing villages would apparently compete. In one telling of this story, the winning village would have a bountiful harvest while the losing villages would have their drums cast into the ocean. This competition at the Kainan Shrine is not currently practiced. (More more info, see information by Nen Daiko.)
The arrangement that we play is a stage arrangement featuring a (clockwise) rotating set of drummers.
